Notes of the Daily Videos 4.1 and quiz
- Internet
- Packet Switching
- Layers to Internet
- This is my diagram showing computer systems and networks
Internet
- packet = a small amount of data sent over a network (each packet includes source and destination of information)
- computer system = group of computing devices and programs working together for a joint purpose
- computer network = group of interconnected computing devices capable of sending or receiving data -packet comtains data and meta data containung info used for routing info
Packet Switching
- message (file) is broken uo into packets and sent in any order. The packets are reassembled by the recipient’s device
- routing = process of finding a path from sender to reciever
- path between 2 comuting devices on a computer network = sequence of directly connected computing devices that begins at the sender and ends at the receiver
- Bandwidth = maximum amount of data that can be sent in a fixed amount of time on a computer network (typically measured in bits per second)
Layers to Internet
- Network Access Layer
- Network Access/Internet Layer Data Transmission (IP address)
- Internet Layer (internet is scalable)
- Transport Layer
The Saclibility of the Internet
- Autonomous Systems (AS)
- Local Area Network (LAN)
-
The Internet
- World Wide Web is NOT the internet (linked data pages)
